Experience/Qualifications:

  • Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (with current CDR Registration from the American Dietetic Association)
  • Master’s degree in nutrition preferred (including public health courses from an accredited college or university)
  • Hawaii State Dietetic Licensure is required
  • Hawaii Driver’s License strongly desired
  • Must be adaptable to change and be proactive in increasing productivity
  • Must be experienced with computers, to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Outlook
  • Experience with electronic health records helpful
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed

Responsibilities:

  • To provide culturally-sensitive Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) across the lifespan for various disease states, which includes but not limited to: diabetes (type 1, type 2, gestational), obesity, cardiovascular disease, and Failure to Thrive (FTT) at several outpatient clinics
  • Perform anthropometric measurements as well as BP and glucose checks
  • Conduct comprehensive diabetic care which includes glucometer and/or insulin instruction, basic foot exams using a monofilament and ordering pertinent labs
  • Recommend general physical activity regimens based on the patient’s limitations/abilities and per established guidelines (or more in-depth if a certified fitness trainer)
  • Participate in monthly meetings which may include but not limited to RD, provider and clinic team meetings
  • May assist in instructing diabetic or other health classes as needed in partnership with other departments
  • May provide community presentations/services and participate in health fairs as needed
  • Instruct/mentor new dietitians and other professionals or students.
