Volunteer Opportunities at St. Francis

St. Francis is opening a new Kupuna Village on the Liliha Campus, a Senior Community Center designed for seniors who want to be active and engage with others to remain healthy in body, mind and spirit.

We will have a Wellness Center and a Bistro and want to have a variety of cooking and nutrition classes. We are looking for RDs with a culinary twist and who enjoy teaching.

This is a great opportunity for some of our entrepreneurs who are launching their practice or students who need to gather some experience. We can’t offer compensation at this time, but we would reimburse for any expenses.

We also have opportunities for nutrition students as a hospice volunteer. This is not for everyone, but nutrition students have reported how beneficial it has been to work with texture modified diets, developing bedside rapport with elderly patients, and be exposed to working in a facility (Looks good on the resume when applying for internships).

We appreciate your help in furthering our mission to provide for the needs of Hawaiʻi’s growing senior population.

Volunteer Opportunity: FREE Kidney Screening

Aloha HAND Members!

On behalf of the National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii, I am inviting Professional volunteers to help out with our FREE upcoming kidney health screening. Our Kidney Early Detection Screening (KEDS) are completely free and open to the public for anyone 18 years or older. At these events, participants go through several testing stations including: blood pressure, measurements, blood draw/glucose checks and urinalysis. They then take their results and have a brief consultation with a medical professional who interprets their results and gives them a snapshot of their current kidney function.

**Help needed with EXIT INTERVIEW – participants get to sit with a medical professional (RD, MD, RN, NP) to go over there test results.**

KEDS at KEY Project, 47-200 Waihee Rd, Kaneohe on Friday, July 1st 2016 from (8 am – 12 pm)

Please feel free to share the KEDS Flyer with anyone whom might be “at risk” for kidney disease – anyone with high blood pressure and/or diabetes.

MOST IMPORTANTLY –– if you or anyone is interested in helping us at the screening we would greatly appreciate it.  Our screenings would not be FREE nor possible if it wasn’t for the help we get from volunteers!
