NOURISH YOUR SKILLS: Early Registration Ends April 15, 2017!

The 2017 Hawaii Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (HAND) presents its Annual Spring Conference “Nourish Your Skills”, on Friday May 5, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m at the Pomaika‘i Ballrooms in the Dole Cannery, Honolulu.

An exciting line-up of speakers will address a variety of topics applicable to all disciplines in the field of dietetics, including sports nutrition, counseling strategies for eating disorders, ethics, pre-diabetes and much more. This conference is an excellent opportunity to join your colleagues and meet new friends for a day of learning and networking while earning 6 CPEUs.

Please note: Early-bird registration deadline is April 15. Registration closes on April 30. Accommodation for same-day registration will depend on availability.

Loving your job but ready for a new career challenge? How about leadership? You have potential and enthusiasm, but are unsure where to find your opportunity to shine. Three well-known Registered Dietitian Nutritionists will discuss their success within the profession, how they overcame obstacles in their careers and provide guidance for leadership involvement within the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics at the national, state, DPG and local levels. This will provide ideas that students, dietetic interns, NDTRs, and RDNs can use to enhance their careers and become involved in professional leadership activities.

The Children’s Healthy Living (CHL) Program in the US Affiliated Pacific Region

This webinar will describe the CHL program components, explain CHL strategies for effectiveness and sustainability, and identify the key outcomes of CHL.

CHL is a partnership among US affiliated Pacific Jurisdictions that leverage the land grant infrastructure and history of collaboration to build a multi-level multi-component intervention program; a multidisciplinary cross jurisdiction training program on child health; and an ongoing data monitoring system for child health. The CHL approach emphasized building on local initiatives while maintaining a shared template of work, resulting in the CHL coalition. The CHL program is yielding results in increasing workforce with health, improving healthy behaviors and decreasing risk for obesity and diabetes among children in the region.
