Who We Are
The Hawai‘i Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (HAND) is a state affiliate of the national Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Founded in 1939, we are a non-profit voluntary professional organization representing over 300 Registered Dietitians Nutritionists (RD or RDN), Dietetic Technicians-Registered (DTR) and dietetic interns and students in Hawai‘i and U.S. affiliated Pacific Islands.
Our Mission
At HAND, we aim to engage and empower members to be Hawaii’s food and nutrition leaders. HAND members serve the public by promoting optimal nutrition, health and well-being in a variety of settings, including medical and health care centers, schools, colleges and universities, research facilities, public health and other community agencies, health and fitness centers, supermarkets, media, private practice, and as entrepreneurs.
Why Become a Member?
You are eligible for HAND membership if you are an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and select Hawai‘i as your affiliated state. HAND membership benefits include but are not limited to the following:
- Networking opportunities in the Hawaiian Islands and the U.S. affiliated Pacific Islands
- Discounted on registration fees to HAND sponsored continuing education programs, including Annual Conference
